The Solution
Following the site assessment, Harcon proposed a combined installation of Kee Guard edge protection systems and Kee Cover roof light protection systems to create a comprehensive roof safety solution.
Kee Guard Edge Protection
In areas where the parapet height reduced below 1.1 metres, Harcon recommended installing the Kee Guard free-standing guardrail system. Kee Guard is a modular, non-penetrating roof edge protection system designed to provide collective fall protection without compromising the roof surface.
The system was selected because it:
- Complies with UK Work at Height Regulations and relevant international standards.
- Eliminates the need for workers to wear PPE in protected areas.
- Removes the need for complicated rescue procedures and ongoing high-level training.
- Provides a permanent, low-maintenance safety solution.
Kee Cover Roof Light Protection
To address the risks associated with fragile roof lights, Harcon also proposed installing Kee Cover systems across all roof lights on the site. Kee Cover creates a strong, durable barrier over roof lights, preventing accidental falls while still allowing natural light into the building.
Tailored Design & Installation
After the initial site visit, Harcon reviewed the measurements and made several adjustments to the original quotation to ensure the final proposal was fully tailored to the site’s exact requirements.
The client reviewed the updated proposal and approved the works, recognising the long-term value and safety benefits offered by the combined Kee Guard and Kee Cover systems.
Once approved, Harcon scheduled the installation works and coordinated delivery to ensure the project was completed efficiently and with minimal disruption to site operations.
