PPE Inspection Training

Harnesses, Lanyards, Self-Retracting Lifelines and other Working at Height are classed as Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and as such are legally required to be inspected prior to use by the user. Training in the specific equipment is essential to ensure that the user is fully aware of all the items that need to be inspected.

About The Training

Harcon Services can provide your personnel with the necessary training on the equipment they have been supplied, increasing the knowledge of your workers and therefore the safety of your site.

Additional training can be provided for personnel responsible for multiple equipment where an inspection is required on a semi-regular basis between the legally required annual inspections. Areas where this may be the case are:

  • Arduous Environments (e.g. Steel Works)
  • Heavy Use (e.g. Scaffolders)
  • Off Shore
  • Areas where chemicals that may damage the products are used (e.g. Painters, Chemical Plants).

Are you required to test your PPE every year?

HSE and European PPE guidelines state that PPE should be checked annually.

  • Annual re-tests are inexpensive and do not take long. The costs of not taking responsibility for ensuring the tests are carried out are many times higher.
  • By not taking responsibility for fall protection PPE that complies to current legislation you are putting your business at risk of prosecution should an incident occur and the equipment is out of date.
  • Your insurances coving worker incidents can be invalidated if your safety equipment is not in test.

Harcon Services offer a rapid turnaround inspection service, and provide you with a certificate of inspection to cover the legal requirement.
